PLEASE READ THIS PARAGRAPH BEFORE YOU GO ANY FARTHER
Here you will find daily lists of birds (species, numbers, etc.) seen on our trips. There is also an archive of trip reports from some of our past trips. Use these lists with some caution when trying to figure the odds of seeing these birds, particularly the less common species. Careful scrutiny will reveal that some years were better than others for some species. Fea's Petrel, Trindade Petrel (Herald), and Bermuda Petrel are not seen with the same frequency each year on the same dates. Abundance of the more common species such as Cory's Shearwater and Wilson's Storm-Petrel might also vary quite a bit from day to day and year to year. Wind patterns and the post breeding dispersal of these birds vary annually. So what was seen LAST SPRING might have little bearing on what is seen on those same dates this year. In the long run, there is little difference between trips from Hatteras or Oregon Inlet (Manteo departures) in terms of species seen. Since we began running trips on our own boat from Hatteras, we have had particularly better luck seeing Fea's Petrel here in the spring. Running our on own boat makes for a better trip than was sometimes possible in the past. Communication is more efficient and I can do what is necessary to ensure good views of the birds we see without interference and offer the best photo opportunities ever.

In trying to calculate your odds to see a particular species, just keep in mind that the Big Picture is more representative than last year's tallies, or the tallies from any given year.
